CDK Forms

CDK Forms

(Showing 6 of 6)

CDK prints the content. What you are buying is the paper it prints onto, which is why nothing here is CDK branded stock and why it costs considerably less than forms bought through a DMS provider.

The only question is which weight and which level of pre printing your setup needs, and you can answer it by looking at what comes out of your printer now. If the system prints the entire form, lines and layout included, you want blank stock, which is what most CDK service departments need. If it prints data into a form already on the page, you want pre printed. If you are not certain, order a small quantity and run a test before committing.

The 90# weight is the point of the blank stock. A repair order gets carried into a shop, handled with dirty hands, clipped to a rack and filed for years; 20# copier paper tears at the clip and goes translucent once it picks up oil, and a damaged RO is a dispute you cannot evidence. Buff versus white is a sorting choice rather than a quality one, and running buff for repair orders lets staff identify the right form across a counter without reading it. On anything the customer takes away, the imprinted version is worth it, since the copy in their glovebox should tell them who to call.

Forms for CDK Dealerships

CDK prints the content. What you are buying is the paper it prints onto, which is why the forms here are not CDK-branded stock and cost considerably less than forms bought through a DMS provider.

The question is only which weight and which level of pre-printing your setup needs.

Check This Before Ordering

Look at what comes out of your printer now.

If your system prints the entire form, lines and layout included, you need blank stock. If it prints data into a form that is already on the page, you need pre-printed. Most CDK service departments fall into the first group, which is why the blank stock here is the most commonly ordered item.

If you are not sure, order a small quantity and run a test before committing.

Blank Stock

90# white index and 90# buff index, both 8-1/2in x 11in, 1-part, 250 per pack.

The 90# weight is the point. A repair order gets carried into a shop, handled with dirty hands, clipped to a rack and filed for years. Copier paper at 20# tears at the clip and goes translucent when it picks up oil. The heavier stock is a few cents more per sheet and survives the job.

Buff versus white is a sorting decision rather than a quality one. Many dealerships run buff for repair orders and white for everything else, so a technician can identify the right form across a counter without reading it.

Pre-Printed Repair Orders

Pre-printed repair orders on 90# buff index carry the form layout already, 1-part, 100 per pack. Compatible with many work order systems, which includes most standard CDK repair order output, but compare against your current form before ordering a large quantity.

Laser Repair Orders

Plain Laser Repair Orders (LZR-RO) are unprinted white 20# laser stock, a 1-part alternative to multi-part carbonless. Lighter than the index stock, so better suited to a form that goes into a file than one that lives in a shop.

The custom imprinted version adds your dealership name, logo and contact information to the same format. Worth doing on anything a customer takes away, since an RO printed on plain paper with no letterhead does not read as coming from your dealership.

Note that imprinted stock is priced per sheet while plain stock is priced per pack, so compare on total quantity for your volume rather than the figures side by side.

Ordering

Most of these ship within 24 to 48 hours of order. Allow transit on top of that, and reorder when a pack opens rather than when it empties. A service drive that runs out mid-week starts writing on whatever is to hand, and that paperwork causes problems at the end of the month.

FAQ

Are these made specifically for CDK?

No, and that is the point. CDK prints the form content, so what you need is suitable paper rather than CDK-branded stock. These work with CDK because your system does the printing, and they cost less than forms bought through a DMS provider.

Blank stock or pre-printed?

Look at your current output. If the printer produces the whole form including lines, order blank stock. If it fills data into an existing layout, order pre-printed. Most CDK service departments need blank.

Why not just use copier paper?

Because 20# bond does not survive a shop. It tears at the clip, goes translucent with oil on it, and a damaged repair order is a dispute you cannot evidence. The 90# index stock costs a little more per sheet and lasts the years you have to keep it.

White or buff?

A sorting choice, not a quality one. Running buff for repair orders and white for other forms lets staff identify the right document across a counter without reading it.

Should we imprint our repair orders?

Worth it on anything a customer takes away. An imprinted RO carries your name, logo and contact details, so the copy in the customer's glovebox tells them who to call. A plain sheet does not.

You do not stock the form we need. Can you get it?

Often, yes. Call us with the form number or send a scan of the one you use now and we will tell you whether we can source or match it. Many CDK forms have a generic equivalent that works identically for less.
