2-Part Buyers Guides

A 2-part Buyers Guide gives you the window display and one file copy from a single completion. Part 1 goes on the vehicle where the shopper reads it; Part 2 stays in the deal file as your record of what was disclosed. For most used car dealerships this is the standard format, and the choice comes down to warranty version, whether your DMS prints the form, and how it attaches to the glass.

Warranty Version

The version has to match the vehicle. The 2-part AS-IS buyers guide discloses that the vehicle is sold without warranty and the dealer takes no responsibility for repairs after sale. The 2-part implied warranty guide discloses implied warranty coverage. Most lots carry both.

Lines or No Lines

If staff complete the form by hand, choose a version with pre-printed writing lines. If your DMS prints directly onto the form, choose an open-field version so printed output does not land across pre-printed rules: the 2-part AS-IS no lines or the Peel-n-Seal no lines.

How It Attaches

Standard 2-part guides adhere to the window with two tape strips, one top and one bottom. Peel-n-Seal 2-part guides combine a paper file copy with a pressure-sensitive window sticker in one form, giving a cleaner display and a stronger hold.

If you use reusable window holders instead, order a file copy version with no adhesive on either part: file copy AS-IS or file copy implied warranty. These are the right choice with a clip-on, fold-over, or static-cling holder, since adhesive tape is redundant and leaves residue.

More Copies

If you keep a copy in the deal jacket and another in a compliance file, step up to three parts. The 3-part AS-IS guide adheres to the window, and the 3-part interior version combines two paper file copies with an adhesive window display in one form.

Other Formats

For outside-the-glass application, the exterior implied warranty guide is a peel-n-seal sticker with permanent adhesive on all four sides. FAQ

What does 2-part mean?

Two copies produced from one completion. Part 1 displays on the vehicle; Part 2 is your file copy, recording exactly what was disclosed to the buyer and when. Complete it once and both copies match, which is the point if the disclosure is ever questioned.

Can the Buyers Guide be imprinted with our dealership name?

The FTC form includes designated areas for the dealer's name and address, and for warranty terms under Systems Covered and Duration when a warranty is offered. Those areas can be pre-imprinted. What cannot change is the prescribed content, wording, and layout of the Guide itself, which the FTC Used Car Rule sets. For dealership branding on the vehicle beyond that, use addendum stickers.

Which version works with our DMS?

If your system prints buyers guides, order a no-lines version. The open field lets printed text land cleanly instead of overlapping pre-printed writing rules. If your team fills the form in by hand, the lined versions are easier to complete legibly.

Should I order tape adhesive or file copy?

Order the tape adhesive version if the guide goes straight onto the glass. Order a file copy version with no adhesive if you display guides in a reusable clip-on, fold-over, or static-cling holder. Putting an adhesive form into a holder wastes the tape and can leave residue on the pouch.

What is the difference between Peel-n-Seal and standard tape?

Standard 2-part guides use two tape strips at top and bottom. Peel-n-Seal uses a pressure-sensitive sticker for Part 1, so the display copy adheres across its whole face rather than at two points. It holds better on vehicles sitting outside for extended periods and presents more cleanly on the glass.

Do I need AS-IS or implied warranty?
