A key that can't be matched to a vehicle costs twenty minutes and a walk around the lot. Car lot key tags are how that doesn't happen, and the choice comes down to three things: how much abuse the tag has to survive, whether you need consecutive numbering to tie two keys to one unit, and whether your name goes on it.

Material first. Paper tags in 10-point coloured stock cost least and suit fast turnover with frequent recoding; if they're tearing at the ring, plastic sleeves fix that one problem cheaply. Paper Tags

The lowest cost per tag, suited to high turnover where tags are recoded often. Car dealer key tags are 10-point coloured stock, so you can separate new from used, assign colours by department, or code by price band. Manila key tags are heavy duty 10-point tan card with a reinforced hole, used across sales, parts, and service. If paper tags are tearing at the ring, plastic sleeves slide over a standard tag and reinforce the hole area for a fraction of the cost of upgrading the whole system.

Vinyl and Plastic Tags

When a unit sits on the lot for months, paper fails first at the hole and in the rain. Auto dealer key tags in rigid vinyl resist water and tearing and take permanent marker. Poly stock stickers are 23 mil polyethylene, flexible and fully waterproof. For simple colour coding, red, blue, and black plastic key tags come 100 per pack with a 2in x 1in label area.

Self-Protecting Versa-Tags

Versa-Tag key tags are the original self-protecting folding tag. The 3in x 3in tag folds to 1-1/4in x 3in, so everything written inside is shielded from wear, hands, and weather without a sleeve or laminate. Consecutive Numbering

Most vehicles arrive with two keys, and both need to trace back to one unit. The patented 3-in-1 Consecu format solves that: each 6in x 6in sheet produces two self-protecting folding tags with chrome-plated steel rings plus one matching clear label, all carrying the same number. Available as blank Consecu tags or custom printed. The Color-Top version adds a coloured header for departmental coding, in blank or custom consecutive-numbered form.

Key Rings

Ring size is decided by what is on the keyring. The 7/8in chrome-plated split ring handles standard tags and keys. The 1-1/8in zinc-plated ring takes heavy fobs, thick remotes, and multiple tags, which is most modern inventory.

Tags identify keys; cabinets keep them findable and accountable. Economy powder-coated steel cabinets ship ready to use with fobs, rings, and numbered stickers in 20-key, 48-key, and 105-key capacities. The heavy duty key cabinet is 18-gauge steel holding 96 keys on 1in hooks sized for large rings and remotes, which standard cabinets often will not take.
