Dealership Sales Department Supplies

License Plate Hardware

Plate fastening is more varied than it looks. License plate screws come in standard and metric threads, since most Japanese, Korean, and European vehicles use 6mm metric mounting holes. Coatings matter outdoors: the slotted hex washer head uses Black E-Coat and the duo-drive truss head uses a Dacromet zinc-flake finish, both outperforming standard zinc. Temporary Tags and Plate Handling

Between sale and permanent registration, the temporary tag has to stay legible outdoors. Heavy duty coated paper temporary tags are 10 mil water-resistant stock, and weatherproof tear-resistant tags use fully waterproof synthetic paper. Protect either with a license plate tag bag, which seals the tag against weather. Hand over permanent plates in white moist and seal license plate envelopes, 100 per box.

Delivery and Presentation

Reusable bags send trade-in contents and paperwork home with the customer and keep your name in circulation afterward, including the Thank You reusable bag and custom logo tote bags. Which license plate screws do I need?

Thread type first: most domestic vehicles take standard threads, while most Japanese, Korean, and European imports take 6mm metric. Then choose by how fast you need to work. Thumb screws tighten by hand and nylon inserts push in with no tool, both useful when fitting plates across a whole front line.

Does the screw coating matter?

On a fastener mounted at bumper height in road spray and salt, yes. Dacromet zinc-flake and Black E-Coat finishes both resist corrosion better than standard zinc plating. A rusted plate screw looks bad on a vehicle you just detailed and seizes when the plate needs to come off.

Paper or vinyl key tags?

Paper key tags cost less and suit high turnover with frequent recoding. Rigid vinyl tags and poly stock stickers resist water and tearing, which matters for units sitting on the lot for months or keys handled daily in the service drive.

What is a Consecu key tag system?

A patented 3-in-1 format: each 6in x 6in sheet produces two self-protecting folding key tags with chrome-plated steel rings plus one clear label, all carrying the same consecutive number. That keeps both sets of keys and the vehicle record tied to one number, which is the point when a unit has two keys in circulation. Available blank or custom printed.

How do I keep temporary tags legible?

Start with weather-resistant stock: coated paper tags at 10 mil, or synthetic paper tags that are fully waterproof and tear-resistant. Add a tag bag to seal the tag against rain and road spray. An illegible temporary tag is a problem for your customer, not just an appearance issue.

Why use hang tags instead of window markers?

Hang tags change in seconds with no writing or cleaning, so a unit moves from available to Sold or Hold instantly and reverses just as fast if a deal falls through. They also read the same to staff walking the lot as to shoppers.
