The service drive is harder on a tag than the lot. Keys move between advisors, technicians, porters and back to the customer, often several times a day, with dirty hands at every step. Service key tags that survive that and stay legible are what stop a vehicle sitting on the lift while someone hunts for its keys.

Attachment method is the first decision, because tags come on and off constantly. Self Lock tags have a tab that threads through the ring and locks back on itself, so there is no separate ring to fit or lose. Plastic key snaps open and close repeatedly. Service Department Key Tags

A tag that survives that and stays legible is what stops a vehicle sitting on the lift while someone hunts for its keys.

Self-Protecting Folding Tags

Versa-Tag key tags are the original self-protecting folding tag. The 3in x 3in tag folds to 1-1/4in x 3in, putting everything written inside the fold where hands, grease, and weather cannot reach it. Fields cover new or used, stock number, year, make, model, body, and colour. Attachment Method

This is where the service department differs from the lot, because tags come on and off constantly. Self-Lock key tags in regular size and large size have a locking tab that threads through the key ring and locks back on itself, so there is no separate ring to fit or lose. Plastic key snaps are 5in clear nylon fasteners with a self-locking closure. For tags without a built-in fastener, pre-cut 12in string and pre-cut 12in 26-gauge wire attach to keys, parts, and components. Where a metal ring is wanted, choose the 7/8in ring for standard tags or the 1-1/8in ring for heavy fobs and thick remotes.

Durable Tags

Paper fails first at the ring hole. Poly key tags in 23 mil polyethylene are round-cornered and far more durable than card stock, and rigid vinyl auto dealer key tags resist water and tearing while taking permanent marker. Poly stock stickers apply the same material to stock identification. If paper tags are working except for torn holes, plastic sleeves reinforce the hole area for far less than replacing the system.

Consecutive Numbering

Most vehicles arrive with two keys, and both need to trace to one job. The patented 3-in-1 Consecu format produces two folding tags with chrome-plated rings plus a matching clear label from each 6in x 6in sheet, all sharing one number. Available blank, custom printed, or with a coloured header in blank and custom numbered versions.

Parts and Warranty Tagging

Keys are not the only thing that needs labelling. Warranty tags are heavy 10-point manila at 6-1/4in x 3-1/8in for identifying warranty parts and returned components, which matters because an unlabelled core is a credit you will not get back.
