Eye Protection

Three tiers, and the right one depends on the task. Economy safety glasses are lightweight and rimless with thin flexible temples, the practical choice for stocking in volume so there is always a pair to hand. Flexible temple safety glasses add rubber-tipped arms that conform to the wearer, which matters for technicians wearing them all day. Foamed safety glasses seal around the lens perimeter with foam padding, blocking dust and airborne particles for grinding, sanding, and blowing out components.

Hearing and Hand Protection

Corded ear plugs are soft polyurethane foam with a slow-recovery cell structure, so they expand gradually after insertion and seat properly rather than backing out. The cord keeps them together when not in use, which is the difference between a pair that lasts a shift and a pair that ends up on the floor. Powder-free latex gloves are 4 mil textured for service bays, detail work, and general cleaning, 100 per pack.

Spill Control

Every shop spills something. Gorillazorb sorbent granules are a recycled cellulose universal absorbent for floor spills, handling oil and water-based liquids from a 25lb bag.

For containment rather than clean-up, absorbent socks ring a spill before it spreads. The choice is selectivity: oil-only socks absorb petroleum and repel water, so they keep working in a wet bay or outdoors in the rain where a universal sock would already be saturated. Universal socks absorb both oil and water-based liquids, the better all-purpose choice indoors where coolant, washer fluid, and water are as likely as oil. Both are 3in x 4ft with a super absorbent flake core.

Restroom and Washroom

Customer restrooms are part of how a service department is judged. Jumbo roll toilet paper gives 1,000 feet per roll for commercial jumbo roll dispensers, which means fewer changes and fewer empty dispensers on a Saturday morning. For standard dispensers, premium 2-ply toilet paper comes 96 rolls to a case. Multi-fold towel dispensers mount at restrooms and service department wash stations.

FAQ

Oil-only or universal absorbent socks?

Oil-only socks absorb petroleum products and repel water, so they stay effective on a wet floor or outdoors in rain. Universal socks take both oil and water-based liquids, which suits indoor bays where coolant and washer fluid are as common as oil. Many shops keep universal inside and oil-only for outdoor or wash bay use.

What PPE should a service department keep in stock?
