Safety & Maintenance Supplies

(Showing 9 of 57)

Auto dealer safety supplies and the shop floor consumables that go with them: personal protective equipment, spill control, and the restroom and washroom stock every facility gets through whether anyone budgets for it or not.

Eye protection comes in three tiers. Economy glasses are the volume option, worth stocking so nobody skips protection for want of a spare pair. Flexible temple glasses have rubber tipped arms that stay comfortable through a full shift. Foamed glasses seal around the lens against dust and particles for grinding and blow out work. Add corded ear plugs, where the cord is the point since uncorded plugs get put down and lost, and powder free gloves for fluid handling.

For spills, the distinction is containment against clean up. Absorbent socks ring a spill before it reaches a drain or a customer's vehicle, and come oil selective or universal: oil only repels water so it keeps working on a wet floor, while universal takes coolant and washer fluid too. Sorbent granules clear what has already spread. On the washroom side, jumbo rolls hold 1,000 feet so restrooms need attention far less often, which matters where nobody is assigned to check them.

Safety and Maintenance Supplies

The shop floor consumables that keep a service department compliant, clean, and running: personal protective equipment, spill control, and the restroom and washroom supplies every facility gets through whether anyone budgets for them or not.

Eye Protection

Three tiers, and the right one depends on the task. Economy safety glasses are lightweight and rimless with thin flexible temples, the practical choice for stocking in volume so there is always a pair to hand. Flexible temple safety glasses add rubber-tipped arms that conform to the wearer, which matters for technicians wearing them all day. Foamed safety glasses seal around the lens perimeter with foam padding, blocking dust and airborne particles for grinding, sanding, and blowing out components.

Hearing and Hand Protection

Corded ear plugs are soft polyurethane foam with a slow-recovery cell structure, so they expand gradually after insertion and seat properly rather than backing out. The cord keeps them together when not in use, which is the difference between a pair that lasts a shift and a pair that ends up on the floor. Powder-free latex gloves are 4 mil textured for service bays, detail work, and general cleaning, 100 per pack.

Spill Control

Every shop spills something. Gorillazorb sorbent granules are a recycled cellulose universal absorbent for floor spills, handling oil and water-based liquids from a 25lb bag.

For containment rather than clean-up, absorbent socks ring a spill before it spreads. The choice is selectivity: oil-only socks absorb petroleum and repel water, so they keep working in a wet bay or outdoors in the rain where a universal sock would already be saturated. Universal socks absorb both oil and water-based liquids, the better all-purpose choice indoors where coolant, washer fluid, and water are as likely as oil. Both are 3in x 4ft with a super absorbent flake core.

Restroom and Washroom

Customer restrooms are part of how a service department is judged. Jumbo roll toilet paper gives 1,000 feet per roll for commercial jumbo roll dispensers, which means fewer changes and fewer empty dispensers on a Saturday morning. For standard dispensers, premium 2-ply toilet paper comes 96 rolls to a case. Multi-fold towel dispensers mount at restrooms and service department wash stations.

FAQ

Oil-only or universal absorbent socks?

Oil-only socks absorb petroleum products and repel water, so they stay effective on a wet floor or outdoors in rain. Universal socks take both oil and water-based liquids, which suits indoor bays where coolant and washer fluid are as common as oil. Many shops keep universal inside and oil-only for outdoor or wash bay use.

Which safety glasses should we stock?

Economy glasses are the volume option, worth stocking so nobody skips eye protection for lack of a spare pair. Flexible temple glasses stay comfortable through a full shift. Foamed glasses seal against dust and particles for grinding and blow-out work. Most shops keep economy in bulk and a smaller number of the sealed type for specific tasks.

Granules or socks for spills?

Granules are for cleaning up a spill that has already spread, scattered over the area and swept up. Socks are for containment: ring the spill before it reaches a drain, a doorway, or a customer's vehicle. Keeping both means you can stop a spill and then clear it.

Why corded ear plugs?

Because uncorded plugs get put down and lost, and a technician without plugs works without them. Corded plugs hang around the neck between uses. The slow-recovery foam also expands gradually after insertion, which is what lets them seat properly rather than backing out of the ear canal.

Jumbo roll or standard toilet paper?

Jumbo rolls hold 1,000 feet each, so restrooms need attention far less often, which matters at a dealership where nobody is assigned to check them hourly. They require a jumbo roll dispenser. If your dispensers are standard, premium 2-ply ships 96 rolls to a case.

What PPE should a service department keep in stock?

At minimum, eye protection for every technician plus spares, hearing protection for impact tools and air work, and gloves for fluid handling and detail work. Keep enough that nobody has a reason to work without it, since the cost of stocking generously is trivial against a single injury.
